Earth Science: Learn more about the planet we call home! Earth Science activities will focus on various earth science disciplines such as geology, meteorology, oceanography and astronomy. Students will learn how the NASA Earth Sciences Division studies space, air, sea and land to benefit humankind here on earth!
Engineering Design Challenges: Become an engineer for a day! Enjoy an engineering and design challenge focused on NASA’s current missions and programs. Students will model the NASA engineering design process by working collaboratively in teams to design, build, and test their ideas.
Solar System Exploration: Calling all explorers! Get the inside scoop on NASA’s missions and programs that explore our solar system! Take a look into the current technology that allows us to investigate our system’s Sun, planets, asteroids, meteors, and moons. Students will learn how these devices work and the purpose of their missions.
Working and Living in Space: Step into the extraordinary realm of space exploration. Students will learn about working and living in space, and gain insights into the incredible challenges and opportunities that come with human space exploration. Students will explore the intricacies of astronaut training, space missions, and the International Space Station (ISS). Students delve into the topics of microgravity, life support systems, space habitats, and the psychological and physical effects of living in a confined and weightless environment.
Robotics
Participants use SPHERO robots in “simulated” NASA-based missions on the Moon or Mars. K-2 grades work together in teams to travel to across hills and craters, collect “cubes” of water-ice, and rescue astronauts.
STEM Careers
Do your students understand what engineers or scientists do? One way they can find out more is through coming to the Exploration Station to listen to a panel of dynamic NASA scientists and engineers who share their education backgrounds, career paths to NASA, as highlights of their work at NASA, with time for Q&A.
